Today is the 45th anniversary of Martin Luther King’s inspired speech that forever changed America and the world we live in. With a wind of righteousness at his back Mr. King took a nation that was broken and in despair, as the basic human rights of people in the nation where being ignored, and gave people the hope that maybe someday things would be better. What Mr. King did for America can never be repaid, however, what we can do is honor Mr. Kings sacrifice to our country in our thoughts, our actions, and our love for the brothers and sisters of the nation, our fellow citizens. We can assure Mr. King’s legacy by never allowing justice and social equality to be compromised, by always having the hope that one day things will always be better, for the next generation.

I believe that Barack Obama is someone who can take us on an avenue that not only preserves the legacy of Martin Luther King, but will add to the legacy of Mr. King. I believe that Sen. Obama’s message of change can actually transform our broken government into an institution that insures justice and social equality, just as Mr. King dreamed of.

So I believe that today we must pause, and say this is not a normal day. For this day is a day when Mr. King’s hope for his country was rescued. And it is a day that hope turns into change.

                                                           - Jedidiah A.
